Il Freddie Mercury Day, Sky Arte dedica un’intera giornata al frontman

Oggi Sky Arte ha deciso di dedicare un’intera giornata al frontman dei Queen. Battezzato #FreddieMercuryDay durante tutta la giornata interviste ai membri delal band, approfondimenti, Live at Wembley, Live at Montreal e il magnifico Freddie Mercury Tribute, il concerto live dedicato dai Queen al loro frontman. Tutti i successi interpretati da grandi della musica contemporanea: Elton John, Metallica, Dawid Bowie in duo con una splendida Annie Lennox, George Michael, Axl Rose in We will rock you, Liza Minelli in We are the Champions, Zucchero Fornaciari,  Lisa Stansfield, Paul Young etc.

Grazie anche al film Bohemian Rhapsody, uscito nelle sale dal 29 novembre e campione di incassi, ritorna in auge la vita segreta di  Freddie Mercury. Il suo rapporto con Mary Austin, Brian May, John Deacon, Roger Taylor, i suoi adorati figli felini, Jim Hutton, Paul Prenter. Un tuffo nel passato della band e del suo frontman dagli anni settanta alla loro apparizione durante il Live Aid del 13/07/1985 dove, dalle 18.41 alle 19.06, Wembley esplode al ritmo della loro musica e viene raggiunta la somma di 1 milione di sterline che Bob Geldof si era imposto di donara ai paesi africani.

Band londinese che spopola in America con una canzone stroncata dalla radio europea per via della sua lunghezza (sei minuti) Bohemian Rhapsody, si esibirà in questo continente ben 707 volte.

Il film racconta la storia del frontman, con accenno al suo  passato grazie a foto reali provenienti dall’album di famiglia, e il suo rapporto con Mary Austin a cui il cantante dedicò “Love all my life”. Una storia d’amore durata 6 anni ma talmente importante per il frontman che, da testamento, fu proprio Mary a tenere nascoste per diversi anni le ceneri del cantante nella sua stanza da letto di Londra e a spargerle di nascosto in un luogo che ancora oggi non si conosce. Il volere del cantante era proprio questo, non far sapere a nessuno dove sarebbe stato sepolto.

Il film è candidato al Golden Globe 2019  come miglior film drama e il protagonista, Rami Malek è stato nominato come migliore attore. Qualche imprecisione nelle vicende raccontate ma vedremo cosa saprà fare la critica, sicuramente un ottimo film cheracconta un’importante pezzo di vita di una delle icone musicali più importanti al mondo!
